What Is Marriage?
The Sacrament of Matrimony (also often called "Marriage") is a Sacrament of vocation in which a man and a woman enter into an unbreakable bond of unity, sacrifice, and love, offering themselves and their lives fully and completely to one another. This bond, and the love within it, is a reflection of the love that God had for all his children and truly for all creation.
The act of getting married, generally referred to as a "wedding," is a moment of joy and support from their families and the church community, providing a public acknowledgement of this beautiful and uniting act in which the couple declares their commitment. In the midst of the exchange of rings and other rich and meaningful symbols, the bride and groom exchange their consent to one another,
Marriage at Our Churches
Have you gotten engaged? Are you starting to plan and hoping to have your wedding at either St. Mary Star of the Sea Church or St. Patrick Church?
That's wonderful. Congratulations! We are happy to work with you and do our best to make this a truly special and memorable day.
As pre-marital meetings and preparation take some time, we ask that you contact the church where you would like to get married at least six (6) months prior to the date on which you hope to have your ceremony. At that point, you'll have the opportunity to meet with one of our priests to discuss the first steps, ensure that you are able to be married, and to formally set your date in our church calendar.
Feel free to contact Parish Office for more information about this process or if you have additional questions about weddings at our churches.
