St. Mary Star of the Sea Church of Unionville and St. Patrick Church of Farmington are two distinct Roman Catholic parishes located in different sections of the town of Farmington, Connecticut. Though they are separate parishes, the end of 2021 and beginning of 2022 brought about a new connection between these two churches.
With the retirement of the Msgr. Michael Motta from St. Mary Star of the Sea Church in late 2021 and the retirement of Msgr. Thomas Barry from St. Patrick Church in early 2022, Fr. Matt Gworek and Fr. Josh Wilbur were asked to come in and serve both communities, splitting their time and efforts between the church campuses, events, activities, and prayer of both locations.
This sharing of priests has led to beautiful opportunities in which these churches have come together for meaningful spiritual, social, and charitable opportunities, and the hope is that as they come to know each other more and more, these successful collaborations will only before more regular. In a short time, a newfound Catholic unity has begun building among these churches and their parishioners, and this new bond looks to help strengthen the people and prayer life of the Farmington community.
