In 1870, Father Patrick Duggett purchased a former
clock shop on Farmington Avenue to serve the Catholic people of Farmington, Connecticut. In 1885, the growing Catholic community became a mission of Plainville’s Catholic Church, and then in 1918, St. Patrick Parish was established. A basement church on Main Street was dedicated on November 27, 1919, and the completed church was dedicated on June 11, 1922. Built of donated fieldstone from stone walls on local farms, this church located at 110 Main Street in Farmington has become a distinct landmark of the Farmington community.
In 2022, a new addition to the church was completed,
providing new classrooms, bathrooms, a proper parish hall, and an elevator, All of these help to enhanc the capability and accessibility of the church campus. The design of the new addition brings a sense of modern proficiency and potential to the church while also explicitly highlighting the original architecture, style, and history of this historic and wonderful parish church.
